Training of Trainers for yoga instructors (Yoga Hub)

As part of the Training of Trainers (ToT) programme conducted under the Yoga Hub Project, a scientific awareness session on "Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) and the Importance of Yoga in Preventing NCDs" was organized at Nanjangud, Mysuru, on 24-07-2026. The session was delivered by Dr. Pavana Bhat K. and Dr. Vandana B. Patil, P.G  Scholars, Department of PG and Ph.D. Studies in Swasthavritta, Government Ayurveda Medical College, Mysuru, under the guidance of the faculty members of the department. The resource persons highlighted the increasing global burden of non-communicable diseases such as diabetes mellitus, hypertension, obesity, cardiovascular diseases, and cancer. They emphasized the role of unhealthy lifestyle practices as major risk factors and discussed evidence-based preventive strategies focusing on healthy diet, regular physical activity, stress management, and behavioural modifications.

Date : 15/06/2026 Venue: AIISH park, bhogadi, Mysore Coordinators :  Dr Pankaja, Dr Sushmitha M, Dr Spoorthi, Dr Anagha As part of the 12th International Day of Yoga celebrations, the Department of PG & Ph.D studies in Swasthavritta & yoga, Government Ayurveda Medical College, Mysuru. organized a yoga session at AIISH Park, Bhogadi, for elderly women focusing on menopause-related health issues. The programme aimed to create awareness about the benefits of yoga in managing physical, psychological, and emotional challenges of menopause and ageing. The session included gentle exercises, yogasanas, pranayama, relaxation, and meditation. Participants were educated on healthy lifestyle practices and Ayurvedic principles. The interactive programme was well received, encouraging women to adopt yoga for improved health, well-being, and quality of life.  

E -YOGA AWARENESS

Date : 16/06/2026  On the occasion of the 12th International Day of Yoga, the Department of PG & Ph.D Studies in Swasthavritta & Yoga, Government Ayurveda Medical College, Mysuru, organised the release of E-Yoga Awareness QR Codes that provide access to educational videos and information leaflets on commonly occurring geriatric health problems. The QR codes were formally released by the Principal and the Head of the Department of Swasthavritta in the presence of faculty members and postgraduate scholars. The educational resources were developed to create awareness about common health issues in old age and to promote preventive and promotive healthcare through Yoga, Ayurveda, and healthy lifestyle practices. Release of QR code,Poster 2026- Yoga for Healthy aging

Date - 16/6/2026  As part of the celebrations of the 12th International Day of Yoga, posters highlighting the various programmes to be organized were officially released by the Department of PG & Ph.D Studies in Swasthavritta & Yoga, Government Ayurveda Medical College, Mysuru. The posters were unveiled by the Principal and the Head of the Department in the presence of faculty members and postgraduate scholars. The planned activities include yoga demonstrations, awareness programmes, health talks, and community outreach initiatives aimed at promoting yoga for health, wellness, and disease prevention. The programmes are designed to encourage participation from students, healthcare professionals, and the general public, fostering awareness about the scientific and therapeutic benefits of yoga in day-to-day life. Health camp- 8/3/2025

 A Health camp was conducted on 8th March 2026at Bedaguli to provide medical consultation and basic health services to the local community A total of 60 patients attended the camp and received health checkups, medical advice and counselling on preventive healthcare Patients requiring further evaluation were adviced to seek appropriate follow-up care  Dr Shilpa and Dr Anagha were present during the health camp and participated in patient examination and health education activities 

Yoga vicharam- 2026

 The National Level Online Ayurvedic Formulation Presentation Competition, Yoga Vicharam , was conducted by Government Ayurveda College, Kannur. The last date for submission of presentations was 17 April 2026, and the event received more than 150 PPT entries from participants across the country. Following the initial screening, presentations by first-year PG scholars Dr. Akanksha and Dr. Anagha from the department were selected for the final round.  Dr. Anagha presented on Dadimadi Ghrita , while Dr. Akanksha presented on Ashokarishta . Both participants successfully qualified for the finals. The final round was held on 28 April 2026.  Dr Anagha secured the 2nd prize in the competition, bringing recognition to the department. Samyojanam-2025: National Conference on Metabolic Disorders

Samyojanam-2025: A National Conference on Metabolic Disorders was organised by Vishwa Ayurveda Parishad, Karnataka in collaboration with Karnataka State Open University, Mysuru . The conference was held on 7th and 8th November 2025 . Dr Venkatakrishna K V , Professor and HOD, Department of Swasthavritta, delivered a  micro talk  highlighting the importance of preventive Ayurveda in Metabolic Diseases vis-avis Diabetes mellitus Online paper presentation sessions were conducted as part of the scientific program. The National Research Methodology Workshop was successfully conducted on 25th and 26th February at GARC Mysuru , in association with GAMC Mysuru and the Postgraduate Department of Panchakarma . The two-day national-level academic event served as a dynamic platform to strengthen research aptitude among postgraduate scholars and young faculty in Ayurveda. 2nd Ayurveda World Summit-2025

Attended PhD Presentation of Dr Ashwini

 All PG scholars attended the PhD presentation of Dr. Ashwini from the Department of Samhitha and Siddhanttha at Government Ayurveda Medical College and Hospital, Mysuru on 13th November 2025. The session was highly informative and academically enriching, providing valuable insights into classical Ayurvedic principles and research methodology. The presentation encouraged scholarly discussion and inspired the PG scholars to deepen their understanding of Samhitha-based concepts and their research applications.

Anjana Preparation in Department

 As a part of Dinacharya (daily regimen) in Ayurveda, Anjana is an important preventive eye care procedure practiced for maintaining ocular health and improving vision. In the Department of Swasthavritta at Government Ayurveda Medical College and Hospital, Mysuru , Anjana preparation is carried out following classical Ayurvedic guidelines with strict attention to authenticity and hygiene. PG scholars actively participate in the selection, purification, and fine trituration of ingredients to obtain the appropriate consistency of the formulation. This hands-on training not only enhances their practical knowledge of Ayurvedic pharmaceutical procedures but also reinforces the importance of daily preventive practices in promoting eye health and overall well-being.

Award ceremony - Vaibhava-2025

 Vaibhava 2025 was a vibrant and memorable event encompassing sports, academic, and cultural festivities , held at Government Ayurveda Medical College and Hospital, Mysuru . The grand celebrations  unfolded over a span of eight days , creating an atmosphere of enthusiasm, healthy competition, and creative expression across the campus. PG scholars from the Department of Swasthavritta participated with remarkable zeal and dedication in all three domains—sports, academics, and cultural events . Their active involvement reflected not only physical stamina and intellectual acumen but also artistic flair and teamwork. Throughout the fest, the scholars showcased exemplary performance and brought laurels to the department by winning numerous prizes across various competitions.  Samskara- PG Orientation Program for New First year Post graduate Students was conducted at Charaka Government Ayurveda Post Graduation Centre for 7 days Every day different topics were addressed by various faculties to provide guidance for a productive post-graduation life, Skill development and reserach orientation were developed among all students. 

CCARD- International Conference 2025

 The CCARD International Conference 2025 was organized by Cauvery Ayurvedic Hospital , Mysuru, on the theme “Ahara Vihara Arogya Vichara – Intersecting Nutrition, Lifestyle Medicine, and Sustainable Healthcare.” The conference focused on integrating traditional Ayurvedic principles with modern perspectives on nutrition, lifestyle medicine, and sustainable healthcare practices. First-year postgraduate scholars actively participated in the conference. The event provided an excellent academic platform for learning, knowledge exchange, and interaction with experts from various fields. It enriched the scholars’ understanding of the vital role of Ahara (diet) and Vihara (lifestyle) in promoting holistic health and well-being.

FRT Program- 2025

 On 22nd and 23rd December 2025, a First Responder Training Program was successfully conducted for the benefit of students and faculty. The two-day training program focused on equipping participants with essential emergency response skills, including basic life support, first aid techniques, and effective crisis management. All postgraduate scholars from the department actively attended and participated in the training sessions. The program provided valuable hands-on experience and enhanced their preparedness to respond confidently and efficiently in emergency situations. The training proved to be highly informative and practical, strengthening the participants’ sense of responsibility and readiness to serve the community in times of need.
